"Why is this happening?" You've asked it a hundred times. The job loss. The diagnosis. The relationship that fell apart. The door that slammed shut. The prayer that went unanswered. None of it makes sense. And the worst part? You can't see where God is in any of it. But what if trust doesn't require understanding? What if faith is strongest when answers are weakest? Here are three truths to hold onto when life stops making sense.

From where you're standing, it looks like chaos. Like everything's falling apart. Like nothing is working out. But you're seeing one thread. God sees the whole tapestry. Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us that His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are higher than our ways, as the heavens are higher than the earth. This doesn't mean God's plan is random or cruel. It means His perspective is broader. He sees the beginning, middle, and end — and He's working it all together for good. You don't need to understand the plan to trust the Planner.

We want certainty. We want explanations. We want to know why, when, and how it's all going to work out. But faith doesn't operate on clarity. It operates on trust. Proverbs 3:5-6 says to trust in the Lord with all your heart and not lean on your own understanding, acknowledging Him in all your ways so He can make your paths straight. Notice the order: trust first, understanding later. You're not asked to figure it out — you're asked to follow the One who has. Faith says, "I don't know what You're doing, but I know You."

Deuteronomy 31:8 promises the Lord Himself goes before you, will be with you, and will not fail or forsake you. God doesn't abandon you in confusion. He walks through it with you. Even when you can't feel Him. Even when you can't hear Him. Even when nothing makes sense. His presence isn't dependent on your understanding.

A Simple Prayer
Lord, I don't understand what You're doing. Life doesn't make sense, and I'm struggling to trust.
