Waiting. It can feel like wandering in the in-between. You've prayed. You've trusted. You've done everything right — and still, the door hasn't opened. The healing hasn't come. The answer hasn't shown up. The breakthrough hasn't happened. What if the waiting isn't a waste? Here are three truths to help you find peace when life feels paused — because even in the delay, God is doing deep work.
"What if the waiting isn't a waste?"
We often think of waiting as nothing happening. But spiritually, it's often where the most growth happens. Isaiah 40:31 promises that those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength and mount up with wings like eagles. Waiting is where strength is built, trust is tested, and intimacy is deepened. God is not passive in the waiting — He's present, preparing you and what's ahead.
- Strength is renewed in the waiting, not just at the finish line
- Trust is tested — and deepened — in the space before the answer
- God is present and active, even when nothing visible has changed
- The waiting season is preparing both you and what's coming
Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. God's "no" is clear. But His "not yet" is filled with purpose. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that for everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven. His timing is not always ours — but it is always intentional.
- A closed door today is not the same as a closed door forever
- God's timing follows purpose, not our preferred pace
- Seasons have their place — even the ones that feel too long
- "Not yet" is still an answer, and it's still love
"The waiting may just be where the miracle begins."
We often think peace comes from having answers — but biblical peace comes from having God. Isaiah 26:3 promises that He will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in Him. You don't have to wait for the outcome to experience peace. You just have to remain anchored in the One who holds the outcome. The waiting is not a detour — it's part of the path. And while you're waiting on God, He's working in you.
- Peace is available now, not just after the answer comes
- A steadfast mind is one fixed on Him, not on the outcome
- You may feel stalled — but He's still writing your story
- Hold on. Lean in. The waiting is not wasted time
A Simple Prayer
Lord, waiting is hard.
It tests my patience, my trust, and my faith. But I believe You're still working — even when I can't see it.
Help me rest in Your timing and lean into Your presence. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Reflect on This
- What have you been waiting on lately? What would it look like to trust that God is still working, even without visible progress?
- Where have you been tying your peace to an outcome instead of to God Himself — and what would it mean to anchor there instead this week?
