Resetting Your Heart
The real goal isn't to be more disciplined โ it's to be more connected.
Listen to Today's Devotional
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. โ Psalm 51:10 (NIV)
We love a good reset. New journals. Fresh devotionals. Bible-in-a-year plans. Morning routines. And while spiritual habits are powerful, they're only as effective as the heart behind them.
Sometimes we try to fix spiritual distance by "doing more." Praying longer. Reading more chapters. Fasting again. But when our hearts are heavy or distracted, these habits can become spiritual checkboxes โ religious routines with no soul.
"What should I add to my spiritual routine?"
"Lord, what does my soul need to surrender right now?"
David didn't ask God for a new schedule โ he asked for a new heart. Because only a heart renewed by God can sustain meaningful rhythms with Him.
Maybe you need a heart reset more than a habit reset. Try starting your quiet time differently:
Connection flows from a renewed spirit โ not a rigid checklist.
Are your habits drawing you closer to God โ or just making you feel spiritual? What does your heart need to surrender before you reset your routine?
God, I don't just want better habits โ I want a better heart. Reset me from the inside out. Help me stop performing and start connecting. Let my spiritual life grow out of intimacy, not obligation. Amen.
Before your next devotional or prayer time, pause and ask God to reset your heart. Say aloud:
"Lord, I want to meet with You โ not just check off my list."Let's Talk
