📖 Scripture Focus
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7
Devotional Message – Day 6
If we’re honest, many of us base our sense of closeness with God on how we feel.
If worship moved us to tears, if our quiet time felt “deep,” if a prayer was answered quickly—we feel close to God.
But when things go quiet, when life is heavy, when we’re dry or distracted—we begin to wonder, “Is something wrong with me? Is God distant?”
Here’s the truth: faith was never meant to be measured by feelings.
Feelings are real, but they’re not always reliable. And God’s presence doesn’t vanish just because your emotions do.
Faith is choosing to believe He is near, even when your senses tell you otherwise.
Faith is reading Scripture when it doesn’t “feel alive.”
Faith is worshiping through the fog, praying through the dryness, and trusting when you can’t see a thing.
Even Jesus—our example of perfect faith—cried out, “My God, why have You forsaken Me?” on the cross. And yet, He still entrusted Himself to the Father.
You are not weak for struggling with emotions. But you are strongest when you keep showing up—not because you feel it, but because you believe it.
Reflection Prompt
What’s something you've done for God recently—*even when you didn’t feel like it*? What does that reveal about the strength of your faith?
Prayer
God, sometimes I feel far from You. Sometimes I feel nothing at all. But I choose to believe You’re near. Strengthen my faith to rise above how I feel and anchor me in what’s true. Amen.
Closer Still – Action Step
Do something faith-filled today even if you don’t feel spiritual. Read one chapter of Scripture, say a short prayer, or worship aloud—even if it feels dry. Faith isn’t about your feelings. It’s about your decision.
