How God Speaks
His voice isn't always loud โ but it is always faithful.
Listen to Today's Devotional
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. โ John 10:27 (NIV)
We often think hearing God should feel loud, clear, and unmistakable. A voice from the sky. A burning in the heart. A verse glowing off the page. And sometimesโฆ that happens. But often, God speaks in far more subtle ways:
A whisper in your spirit
A line in a sermon that feels personal
A sense of peace in the middle of confusion
A "coincidence" that couldn't possibly be random
God's voice isn't always loud โ but it is faithful.
Jesus said His sheep know His voice. That doesn't mean we hear Him perfectly. It means we learn to recognize His tone.
If you're struggling to hear Him, don't assume He's stopped speaking. Maybe He's speaking in a way you're not used to. Maybe He's drawing you into stillness. Ask Him to sharpen your spiritual ears โ not just for big revelations, but for the small nudges of His Spirit.
You are not deaf.
You are not ignored.
You are still being led โ even if it's not loud.
When was the last time you sensed God speaking to you in an unexpected way? How can you create space to hear Him more clearly?
Lord, I want to hear You. Even when You whisper, even when You speak through stillness. Open my ears to recognize Your voice. Teach me to be sensitive to Your Spirit โ even when You're not loud. Amen.
Ask God to speak to you today in a small, personal way. Then keep your heart and senses open โ through Scripture, people, moments of peace, or gentle nudges. Write down anything that stands out.
