“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
Devotional Message-Day 9
There’s a quiet lie that often creeps into our hearts:
“If I were more consistent… if I prayed more… if I was less broken… then God would love me more.”
But God didn’t wait for your perfection to give you His love.
He didn’t send Jesus because you finally got it together—He sent Jesus while you were still in need of saving.
God’s love isn’t a reward for good behavior.
It’s the foundation of everything else in your walk with Him.
You don’t pray to earn His approval—you pray because you already have it.
You don’t worship to get closer to Him—you worship because He’s already near.
You don’t serve to become loved—you serve from love.
Let that truth undo the pressure.
Let it silence the voice that says, “You’re still not enough.”
Let it remind you:
You are not working for love. You are working from it.
Reflection Prompt
Are there parts of you that still feel unlovable? How does Romans 5:8 speak directly to those areas of shame?
Prayer
Father, I confess I often try to earn what You’ve already given. Help me rest in Your unconditional love. Teach me to live like someone already accepted, already chosen, already loved. Amen.
Closer Still – Action Step
Look in the mirror and say this out loud today: “God loves me right now. Not when I get it right—right now.” Repeat it until your heart believes what your head knows.
