When You Feel Spiritually Numb

đź“– Scripture Focus

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10 (NIV)

Devotional Message- Day 25

There are times when you don’t feel anything.

You open your Bible but the words don’t move you.
You try to pray but your mind drifts.
Worship feels routine. Church feels flat.
And you silently wonder: “What’s wrong with me?”

The truth? Nothing’s wrong with you.
You’re not broken—you’re just weary.

Spiritual numbness often follows emotional overload, disappointment, burnout, or even unconfessed pain.
But numb doesn’t mean gone. Numb doesn’t mean faithless.
It simply means your heart needs tending, not judging.

David prayed, “Renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
Even the man after God’s heart had dry seasons.

If you feel numb today, don’t fake it. Don’t force it. Just be real.
Tell God how you feel—or how you don’t feel.
Ask Him to soften what’s gone hard.
He’s not disappointed. He’s drawing near.

Your feelings may be quiet, but God’s presence is not absent.

Reflection Prompt

Have you ever gone through a spiritually numb season? What helped you stay close to God even when you didn’t “feel” anything?

Prayer

God, I feel disconnected, numb, and a little lost. I want to care—but I feel stuck. Please renew my spirit and awaken my heart. Even when I can’t feel You, help me trust that You’re near. Amen.

Closer Still – Action Step

Set a timer for 5 minutes. Sit quietly and simply say: “God, I’m here—even if I don’t feel much.” Let that honesty become your offering today. No pressure. No pretense. Just presence.
