“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32
Devotional Message- Day 2
We all battle invisible voices — subtle lies whispered into our hearts that keep us from drawing near to God. “You’ve failed too many times.” “God is disappointed in you.” “You should be farther along by now.” “Why would He want to hear from you?”
These lies are dangerous not because they’re loud — but because they feel so true when we’re tired, ashamed, or spiritually dry.
The enemy thrives in distortion. If he can twist your perception of God, he can warp your relationship with Him. He’ll convince you to stay silent when you should cry out. To stay distant when God is calling you close.
But John 8:32 tells us the truth sets us free. That truth is not just a verse — it’s a Person. Jesus is the truth that shatters every lie. He says:
“Come to Me, all who are weary.”
“I am with you always.”
“Nothing can separate you from My love.”
Today, call the lies what they are — tactics to create distance between you and the One who longs to be close. Replace them with truth. Speak it aloud.
You are wanted. You are seen. You are still welcome at His feet
Reflection Prompt
What lie has kept you from feeling close to God? Write it down — then cross it out and replace it with one of His truths.
Prayer
Jesus, I’ve believed some things about You that aren't true. Show me the lies I’ve internalized, and help me reject them. Replace them with Your voice, Your truth, and Your love. Amen.
Closer Still – Action Step
Write down one lie you’ve believed and speak God’s truth over it. Bonus: Post it somewhere you’ll see it today as a reminder.
