Listening Prayer
God still speaks — and He longs for children who sit with Him long enough to listen.
Listen to Today's Devotional
Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. — 1 Samuel 3:10 (NIV)
A monologue — we pour out words, then we're done.
A conversation — speaking and then listening.
Listening prayer is about stilling your heart, quieting your thoughts, and simply saying, "God, I'm listening."
Samuel didn't hear God because he prayed louder. He heard Him because he got quiet enough to recognize His voice.
Listening prayer isn't about hearing an audible voice. It's about becoming sensitive to His whispers. It may feel awkward at first — you might wonder, "Is that just my own thought?" But as you practice, you'll learn the sound of His tone.
God still speaks.
He longs for children who don't just talk to Him —
but sit with Him long enough to listen.
Do you make time to listen in prayer — or do you stop after talking? What might God be trying to say that you've been too busy to hear?
Speak, Lord — Your servant is listening. I quiet my heart before You. I release distractions. Teach me to hear You — not just with my ears, but with my spirit. I don't want to just talk at You — I want to walk with You. Amen.
Set a timer for 5 minutes of silent listening. Say:
"God, I'm listening."Then wait. Write down any thoughts, Scriptures, or impressions that come to mind.
