Faith Over Feelings
You are strongest when you keep showing up โ not because you feel it, but because you believe it.
Listen to Today's Devotional
For we walk by faith, not by sight. โ 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)
If we're honest, many of us measure our closeness with God by how we feel.
- Worship moved us to tears โ we feel close to God
- Quiet time felt "deep" โ we feel spiritually strong
- A prayer was answered quickly โ we feel seen
- Things go quiet and dry โ we wonder, "Is God distant?"
Here's the truth: faith was never meant to be measured by feelings.
Feelings are real โ but they're not always reliable.
God's presence doesn't vanish just because your emotions do. Faith is choosing to believe He is near, even when your senses say otherwise.
Reading Scripture when it doesn't "feel" alive
Worshiping through the fog
Praying through the dryness
Trusting God when you can't see a thing
On the cross He cried out, "My God, why have You forsaken Me?" โ and yet He still entrusted Himself to the Father. That is faith in its purest form.
You are not weak for struggling with emotions.
But you are strongest when you keep showing up โ
not because you feel it,
but because you believe it.
What's something you've done for God recently โ even when you didn't feel like it? What does that reveal about the strength of your faith?
God, sometimes I feel far from You. Sometimes I feel nothing at all. But I choose to believe You're near. Strengthen my faith to rise above how I feel and anchor me in what's true. Amen.
Do something faith-filled today even if you don't feel spiritual. Faith isn't about your feelings โ it's about your decision.
