💭 Commentary
This is one of the most tender invitations Jesus ever extended. Notice who He's calling: the weary and burdened. Not the strong and capable. Not those who have it all together. He's specifically inviting people who are exhausted, overwhelmed, and carrying loads they can barely manage. If that's you today, this invitation is for you.
The word "come" is active. Jesus isn't going to chase you down or force rest upon you. He's extending the invitation, but you have to come. You have to make the choice to bring your weariness to Him instead of trying to power through on your own. You have to lay down the burdens you've been carrying instead of pretending you can handle them forever.
Here's the promise: "I will give you rest." Not you will earn rest. Not you might find rest if you try hard enough. Jesus will give it. Rest is a gift from Him, not an achievement you have to work toward. And this isn't just physical rest, though that matters too. This is soul rest. The deep peace that comes from knowing you don't have to carry everything alone. Jesus is inviting you to stop striving, stop pretending, stop carrying what was never yours to bear. Come to Him. The rest you're desperate for is already waiting.
🤔 Reflection Questions
- 💭 What burdens are you carrying right now that you need to bring to Jesus instead of trying to manage on your own?

🙏 Prayer
"Jesus, I'm weary. I'm carrying burdens that are crushing me, and I don't know how much longer I can hold them. Today I hear Your invitation to come to You, and I'm accepting it. I bring my exhaustion, my stress, my overwhelming responsibilities, and I lay them at Your feet. Give me the rest my soul desperately needs. Teach me to stop striving and start receiving. Thank You for caring about my weariness. Amen."
