You Don't Have to Perform

You are invited to rest — not perform.

Day 11 – You Don't Have to Perform
✦ Scripture Focus

Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. — Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

📖
Devotional Message

Are you tired of trying so hard to be "spiritual enough"? Of carrying the unspoken pressure to pray right, worship right, read enough, feel enough?

  • He's not grading your devotion
  • He's not tracking your effort
  • He's not impressed by your religious energy
  • He doesn't need you to feel it to believe it

He just wants you.

The beauty of grace is that you are invited to rest, not perform. Jesus said, "Come to me, all who are weary" — not "Come to me, all who have it together."

In His presence, you don't have to...
Not needed

Pretend everything is fine

Not needed

Produce a spiritual experience

Not needed

Be "on" all the time

Not needed

Show up perfect — just show up

Lay down the performance.

Lay down the perfectionism.

And rest in the One who says, "I will give you rest."

🤍 Reflection Prompt

Do you ever feel like you're performing in your relationship with God? What does it look like to simply "be" with Him instead of trying to impress Him?

🙏 Today's Prayer

Jesus, I've been trying so hard to be good enough — to do everything right. But You invite me to rest. Help me lay down my need to perform and simply receive Your love. Remind me that I am accepted, not because of what I do, but because of who You are. Amen.

✅ Closer Still — Action Step

Take 15 minutes today to spend time with God with no agenda. Don't journal, read, or sing — just sit and rest in His presence. Whisper:

"I don't have to perform — I'm already loved."
