💭 Commentary
This famous passage about love is often read at weddings, but it's not just romantic advice. Paul is describing what real love looks like in action, and honestly, it's convicting. When you read this list, you're not just learning about love. You're being shown a mirror that reveals where your love falls short.
Love is patient. That means it doesn't snap when someone takes too long or makes the same mistake repeatedly. Love is kind. It looks for ways to bless others, not just tolerate them. It doesn't envy what others have or boast about what you have. It doesn't puff itself up with pride or demand its own way. This isn't just a description of love. It's a description of Jesus, and it's what He's transforming you into.
Here's the reality check: you can't love like this in your own strength. This kind of love is supernatural. It requires the Holy Spirit working in you, changing your natural selfishness into Christ-like selflessness. The good news is that God doesn't expect you to manufacture this love on your own. He pours His love into your heart so you can pour it out to others. When you find yourself being impatient, unkind, envious, or proud today, that's your invitation to ask God for more of His love to flow through you.

🙏 Prayer
"Lord, this kind of love is impossible for me to produce on my own. I see where I fall short: my impatience, my unkindness, my envy, my pride. But You are love, and You can transform me. Fill me with Your love today so that I can love others the way You love me. Help me to be patient when I want to rush, kind when I want to be critical, content when I want to compare, and humble when I want to boast. Work in me what I cannot do on my own. Amen."
